As any seasoned Star Trek fan knows, the ship is at the core of every extraordinary adventure. The Resolute is a Centaur-class refit medium cruiser born during the Dominion War, and serves as a science vessel on the frontier of Federation space.
The Centaur-class starship was designed to use pre-made components from the Excelsior- and Miranda-class starships, reducing the need for research and development. This made it possible to build Centaur-class ships quickly and cheaply, which was essential during the Dominion War, when Starfleet was losing ships at a rapid rate. As a result, many Centaur-class ships were fielded in battle during the war, and their modular design made them easy to repair and replace.
